Paul, and his wife Pat, grew up in Crossville, Tennessee. After Paul served in the U.S. Air Force (1971-1975) he and Pat attended Tennessee Tech University where they each earned a degree in Accounting.
After graduation they relocated to Nashville where each began their accounting careers with local accounting firms. Paul is now the business administrator at Westminster Presbyterian Church and Pat is a partner in the local accounting firm, Poland and Associates.
Paul and Pat moved to Brentwood in 1983 because of the homes with large lots. They wanted a place where their children and friends could play ball and enjoy their large back yard. They found that in Brentwood. They have raised three boys in Brentwood and all three attended Lipscomb Elementary, Brentwood Middle School and Brentwood High School. Paul recalls the story about how all three of the boys had the same kindergarten teacher at Lipscomb.
The family is all nearby with the oldest son, his wife and daughter living in Brentwood. The middle son has a home in Spring Hill and the youngest is a student at Tennessee Tech. They all care about Brentwood and say it was a great place to grow up.
Paul has been active in community service since childhood. He has memories of helping his grandfather sell Optimist Club candy. He continued that service while in college and after he arrived here to begin his working career. He has been a Big Buddy, a Civitan ball coach and treasurer, Friends of the Library member, Nashville Junior Chamber of Commerce member, President of Lipscomb PTO, treasurer of the Brentwood High Athletic Club, Chair of the Brentwood Library Board, a Presbyterian church elder, a YMCA soccer coach and co-chair of the Williamson County Fair courtesy transit committee. Paul is currently the Past President of the Brentwood Morning Rotary Club. He has served on the Brentwood Park Board, Planning Commission and represented the city on the Regional Transit board, the Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Mayor's Caucus of middle Tennessee. Paul is currently representing Brentwood on the Williamson County Library Board and the Buffalo River Regional Library Board.
